Terms of Use

By making an account or playing on StarleafMS you agree to these terms and to the Rules.

1What StarleafMS is
  • StarleafMS is a free, non-commercial fan server run by a small team of players. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Nexon or Wizet. MapleStory and its names, art and music belong to their owners.
  • The game and this website are provided as they are. There may be bugs, downtime, rollbacks or wipes, and the server can change or close at any time.
  • You need to be at least 13 years old, or have a parent's permission, to make an account.
2Your account
  • One person per account. Keep your password and PIC to yourself: you are responsible for what happens on your account.
  • Use a real email address that you can read. It is the only way to reset your password or PIC, and login codes are sent to it.
  • Do not sell, buy, trade or share accounts. Staff will never ask for your password.
  • You can ask staff to close your account at any time.
3Playing fair
  • Follow the StarleafMS Rules. They are part of these terms.
  • No trading of accounts, characters, mesos or items for real money or for anything outside the game.
  • Treat other players and staff with respect, in the game, on the forums and on Discord.
4Hacking and cheating
  • Hacking is not allowed, in any form. That covers cheat tables, trainers, Cheat Engine, memory or packet editors, injected DLLs, modified or unofficial clients, edited game files, bots, macros, auto-clickers and any other program that changes the game or plays for you.
  • It also covers duplicating items or mesos, abusing bugs or exploits instead of reporting them, and trying to break into, overload or disrupt the server, the website, the launcher or another player's account.
  • Use only the official StarLeaf launcher and client files. The launcher checks your game files, and the server watches for the common cheats and keeps a record of what it detects.
  • Getting caught means a ban, which can be permanent and can cover all your accounts and your PC, and everything gained by cheating is removed. "I was only testing" or "someone else used my account" does not undo it.
  • Never run a cheat tool even out of curiosity: many of them steal your account name and password.
  • Found a bug or a security hole? Report it to staff privately. Honest reports are thanked, never punished.
5Items, characters and donations
  • Characters, items, mesos and NX have no real-world value and stay the property of the server. They can be changed, removed or reset, for example to fix a bug or balance the game.
  • If donations are ever offered, they are voluntary gifts that help pay for the server. They buy no ownership or guarantee, and they are not refunded.
6What we store about you
  • Your username, a protected (hashed) form of your password, your email address, and what you do in the game and on the forums.
  • Technical details needed to run and protect the server, such as your IP address and a hardware id from the game client.
  • We use your email address only for your account: confirmation, password and PIC resets, login codes and important notices. We do not sell it or give it to anyone else.
  • Emails are delivered by a mail service, which handles your address only to deliver them.
7When things go wrong
  • Staff can warn, mute, jail, suspend or ban an account that breaks these terms or the rules, and can remove items gained unfairly.
  • If you think a decision was a mistake, appeal in the forums. Appeals are read by a staff member who did not make the decision where possible.
  • The team is not liable for lost progress, items or time, or for any damage from using the game, the launcher or the website.
8Changes to these terms
  • These terms can change. Important changes are announced in the news and on Discord, and the date at the top of this page changes with them.
  • If you keep playing after a change, you accept the new terms.
